Iana (pronounced ee.ar.na) is an illustrator and ceramicist based in Suffolk, United Kingdom. Whilst studying Design at Goldsmiths, University of London, she began handbuilding with ceramics. After finding out there were two pottery wheels at her university, she would spend her spare time teaching herself. This progressed into doing an internship at Cernamic, a pottery studio based in Hackney, London.
After moving back to Suffolk, she joined her local pottery studio, with the intention to improve her skills in wheel throwing. Offering to do the studio's reclaim - she now works as a technician, and as a tutor, teaching both throwing and handbuilding.
Her work focuses on decorative ceramics, honing in to the kitschy and cutesy aesthetic. She is typically illustrating animals (cats being her main inspiration), or being inspired by her inner child.
